July was a wonderful, full month of highs and lows...The first week the boys were on vacation and we went to school some times to practice for graduation with preschool and help some short term workers get ready for English Day Camp!!
Graduation went great and I got to lead a song with the preschool and one with the first graders in English. "The Wise Man Built His House Upon A Rock" and "Macarena Months". I was quite tired by the time it was over!!
We started English Day Camp on the 11th with 55 kids registered...parents and kids came pouring in and we registered 40 more on Monday morning followed by 10 more on Tuesday and Wednesday. We had to turn kids away because we didn't have enough volunteers to take more than 5 groups of 20...The two weeks of the program were busy...full of volunteers, administration, and of course, being mom to 2 boys...we ate lunch as a staff at the school every day and that helped me to stay sane. Our house did get a little dusty and our office continued to accumulate things from the school year to sort through!! It was a terrific time for everyone...I would not give myself an A+ as a mom, my boys played more computer games than necessary before we went home in the afternoons. I was more tired than I would have admitted.
After the program ended, we took the group from Florida on a "jungle tour" to a ecological reserve run by a Shuar family. On Sunday we flew with them to Quito and had a week off. It was great to get more sleep, enjoy being together as a family, and enjoy being out of our "jungle" for awhile. McDonalds and Crepes and Waffles!!
We went for a one day tour of Mindo. It was a great small town 2 hours from Quito. We decided to hire a driver and glad that we did!! Besides the boys getting a bit carsick, we enjoyed meeting many butterflies at the "Butterfly Garden" and got to ride the zipline!! This was the most exciting and I am so glad that I conquered my fear of heights and did it. I would do it again anytime!!
Back in Macas, we are hard at work preparing for a new school year, sorting out junk from our office, house and lives, and keeping 2 little people busy!! Thanks for reading!! Next balance goal: more exercise along with better eating habits!!
